About Us

We are dynamic, dedicative, energetic, enthusiastic and laborious young people (aged 16-29 years) who are solely concerned about the future, coming generations and sustainability of Planet Earth.

Since April 2011, we have been mobilizing Asia Pacific Youth focusing on different Issues on The Himalayas (Mountains, The Water Tower), Inputs on Zero Draft and Status of Nepal in Rio+20. We have also drafted Asia Pacific Youth Position Paper towards Rio+20 and Asia Pacific Youth Declaration on Climate Change and Sustainable Development which are also published in the website of UNCSD. We have been raising our voice for "MOUNTAINS" extending our network from Asia Pacific Region at global level.

Advisors

Dr. David James Molden, Director General, ICIMOD
Dr. Molden is a development specialist with more than 30 years of experience in designing, planning, executing, and monitoring programs on water management, livelihoods, environment, and ecosystem services. Prior to joining ICIMOD he was the Deputy Director General for Research at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) based in Sri Lanka. He has worked in several Hindu Kush-Himalayan countries, including China, India, Nepal, and Pakistan, and has experience in projects in the Indus, Ganges, Yellow, Mekong, Yangtze, and Amu and Syr Darya river basins. He has acquired considerable management experience in a number of positions, including Chief of Party for the Irrigation Management Project in Nepal, Chief of Party for a water resources strategic research program in Egypt, and Leader of the multi-institute Comprehensive Assessment of Water Management in Agriculture program.


Mr. Felix Dodd, Executive Director, Stakeholders Forum for Sustainable Development
Mr. Dodd has played a critical role in promoting multi-stakeholder dialogue at the UN. He most recently chaired the 2011 UN Department of Public Information NGO Conference on Sustainable Societies – Responsive Citizens. From 1997 to 2001 he chaired the NGO Coalition on Sustainable Development at the UN. Dodds is currently a member of the Council of Advisors for the Collaborative Institute for Oceans, Climate and Security and a member of the advisory board for A Instituto Internacional de Derecho y Medio Ambiente, and is a former board member of the Montreal International Forum. He is part of a number of advisory boards for Rio+20, including the global scientists conference in 2012 'Planet Under Pressure', the German Government sponsored conference 'Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus' in the Green Economy and the Government of Abu Dhabi sponsored conference 'Eye on Earth Summit' framework committee and stakeholder advisory committee. He is also a member of the Steering Committee for the Habitat Urban Campaign.


Mr. Krishna Gyawali, Secretary, Ministry of Environment
Mr. Gyawali, a Secretary to the Government of Nepal currently working in the Ministry of Environment, has been in Nepal Civil Service for over 25 years. Previously, he was a Secretary in the Ministry of Local Development for two years. He has also served the Ministry of Finance as its Head of the Foreign Aid Coordination Division and the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers as its Cabinet Section Head. He holds Master's degrees each in Political Science, Public Administration, and Development Administration including from the University of Birmingham, UK. He has been a Hubert Humphrey Fellow in Economic Development at the Michigan State University and also attended a course in Leadership and Development at the Harvard Kennedy School, US. He has a wide-ranging experience with public media, notably as a BBC Radio Journalist in London, and with the UN missions in Cambodia, South Africa, East Timor and Kosovo. His areas of interest and expertise include public policy and political economy, democratic and decentralized governance, public service delivery and development management, environmental and climate justice, and sustainability and green economy.


Dr. Madan Lall Shrestha, Academician, Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST)
Dr. Shrestha is an academician of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and Member of the Scientific Planning Group (SPG) of Asia Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN), Japan. He is also visiting Professor at Tribhuvan University. He is the former Director General of Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Government of Nepal. He has completed his Ph. D. (Meteorology) from University of Hawaii, Honolulu, U.S.A and M. Sc. Tech. (Meteorology and Oceonography) from Andhra University, Waltair, India. He is a leading climate change scientist in Nepal and in the South-Asian region. His research interest is climate change science and climate modeling and he always encourages youth for creative works.


Mr. Purushottam Ghimire, Joint Secretary, National Planning Commission Secretariat, Government of Nepal 
Mr. Ghimire, Joint Secretary in National Planning Commission Secretariat, Government of Nepal since July 2011, is the focal person of RIO+20 preparation committee. He served as a Chief of Environment Division, Ministry of Environment, Government of Nepal  for three and half years. He is the resource person on climate change issues and has presented different papers at national as well as international workshops and meetings. He was also National Project Director, National Adoption Program of Action (NAPA)  and the Focal Person of UNFCCC and United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). He was Rapporteur of SBSTA of UNFCCC for the period of 2008-2010 from the Asian Group. He was NPD of Pilot Project on Climate Resilence (PPCR) and National Project Dircetor for CC supported project by Embassay of Denmark, Nepal. He was Negotiators from Nepal who led the Nepalese delegation several times on UNFCCC process from COP13 to COP17.
