About Us

We are dynamic, dedicative, energetic, enthusiastic and laborious young people (aged 16-29 years) who are solely concerned about the future, coming generations and sustainability of Planet Earth.

Since April 2011, we have been mobilizing Asia Pacific Youth focusing on different Issues on The Himalayas (Mountains, The Water Tower), Inputs on Zero Draft and Status of Nepal in Rio+20. We have also drafted Asia Pacific Youth Position Paper towards Rio+20 and Asia Pacific Youth Declaration on Climate Change and Sustainable Development which are also published in the website of UNCSD. We have been raising our voice for "MOUNTAINS" extending our network from Asia Pacific Region at global level.

Webinar on Mountain Agenda and Rio+20

After organizing different workshops, consultation and interaction programs regarding different themes of Rio+20 and Mountain Issues, Asia Pacific Youth Task Force on Rio+20 has decided to organize a webinar jointly with ICIMOD, Earth Charter and UNCSD MGCY. It aims to strengthen the voice of youth from HKH Region at global level creating an opportunity for the youth to form a network from local level to global level. It will also provide the youth around the world a virtual platform to exchanges their views and knowledge.

Around 1.3 billion people depend on the water that flows from the Himalayan Glaciers. The rising temperature in the Himalayas would be a catastrophe which is not just the future of few mountain communities at stake, but also the lives of nearly 1 in 4 people in the world, all of whom rely on the Himalayas for water as well as it will also affect the people and ecosystems from the mountains to the coast and then to the sea. The critical conditions that the Himalayas are facing is the population in these regions is composed of only old aged people and children but youth are rarely found due to high migration for one or the other reasons. So it is very essential to focus why the “Water Tower-MOUNTAINS” matters for the future we want and how Sustainable Mountain Development will help to stabilize youth in these regions along with Green Economy as the new opportunity for the youth from mountains.
Objectives:
  • Exchange of knowledge and views on Mountain Issues.
  • Add values for the Himalayas and strengthen the voice of mountain youth in Rio+20.
  • Connect and develop understanding between the youth from Himalayas, Coast and in between.
  • Updates on efforts of youth for Mountains.
